At Newofmonth, we are excited to introduce the brand new Oppo N2 Flip. We are thrilled to be here in London with Oppo for the big launch, and we can’t wait to tell you all about this groundbreaking device.
As big fans of the regular N2 and its foldable tablet brother, we were thrilled to learn that the N2 Flip is now available in the UK for £849. We have had the opportunity to play with this device, and we have some thoughts that we want to share with you. However, before we dive into the details, we think it’s important to put the N2 Flip in context and talk about its competition, which, of course, is the Galaxy Flip 4.
N2 Flip’s Bigger and Brighter Cover Screen with Next-Gen Hinge and Decreased Crease
One of the standout features of the N2 Flip is its much bigger, brighter, and taller cover screen, which offers a handful of widgets and notifications. You can quickly reply to messages, and most importantly, use it as a viewfinder for your subject. When you open up the N2 Flip, the first thing you may notice (or actually, you might not notice) is the crease. Oppo has decreased it significantly, and it is now almost invisible, thanks to the teardrop design of the screen and the next-gen flexion hinge.
Speaking of the hinge, this is a genuinely big upgrade in terms of the user experience, as you can feel it with every swipe and scroll. Oppo has tested the opening and closing mechanism for durability over 400,000 times, and the new hinge design gives us a no-gap design with a 63% smaller crease compared to the previous hinge.

Oppo N2 Flip: The Flip Phone with the Biggest Battery and Fastest Charging
The N2 Flip comes with a 4,300mAh battery, which Oppo claims is a high-efficiency battery, meaning they can squeeze a little bit more juice out of the cell. This is the biggest battery on any flip phone, and therefore presumably has the longest battery life. Additionally, it is the fastest charging flip phone, with 44-watt superfoot charging. In just 23 minutes, you can top up to about 50%, and a full charge is just under an hour.
When it comes to performance, the N2 Flip is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Oppo claims that this chip is the best balance of performance, efficiency, and value for money, and it is a very capable chip that breezes through pretty much everything you throw at it.

N2 Flip: Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED Screen with Bigger Cover Screen and Quick-Reply Feature
The N2 Flip’s screen is full HD Plus 120Hz AMOLED, and it does use LTPS, so it dynamically adapts between 1 and 120Hz, which helps save battery life. The cover screen is a 3.26-inch 60Hz AMOLED, which is considerably bigger than the sliver of a screen you get on the Flip. You can swipe up for a few quick settings, swipe down for notifications, and then swiping right gives you the camera, weather, timer, voice recorder, earphones menu, and finally, your calendar. You can also quick reply to messages either using some of the preset messages, make your own, or use voice-to-text.
Of course, the standout feature of the N2 Flip is its camera. It has a 50-megapixel main lens and an 8MP ultra-wide. The inside has a 32-megapixel selfie camera, which you can use simply as a viewfinder for your subject or when it’s closed, you get the full camera UI. Additionally, when you fold it, it transitions into Flex mode UI, where the viewfinder is at the top, and all the controls are at the bottom. They’ve also teamed up with Hasselbl to bring their color science, plus their bespoke Pro mode, and the classic x-pan. Oppo’s own Marry Silicon X MPU helps to improve low light and HDR video, making it a solid setup.

Oppo N2 Flip: Flex Form Photography with the Flipping Form Factor
The flipping form factor of the N2 Flip gives you the flexibility to take pictures and videos from unique angles, thanks to the flex form photography. The phone is its own stand, so you can place it down, set a timer, and get a nice high-quality picture remotely while using the cover screen as a viewfinder. You can shoot videos or time lapses, or maybe even use it like a camcorder or holding it at waist height for more interesting angles. It’s a lot of fun to play around with.
The N2 Flip has a fingerprint reader built into the power button on the side, but it also supports face unlocking through both front and back cameras. The haptic motors have also been improved, so you get a little bit more nuanced feedback when you’re typing or gaming. It supports dual speakers, dual SIM, and is the first flip phone to support dual 5G data SIMs simultaneously, which is very handy if you have separate work and personal SIM cards or you travel a lot. The NFC has been designed to work at any angle, open or closed, making it easy to tap for quick payments or on a tube at any angle.
The N2 Flip comes in two color options: astral black, which has a matte finish, and moonlit purple, which has a glossy finish. Both are stunning and come with matching cases. You can even choose a Tamagotchi-like animal to hang out with as your cover screen background.
We appreciate when brands try something new and innovative, and with the N2 Flip, Oppo has taken it a step further in terms of overall design. The cover screen is much bigger, the crease is almost invisible, the hinge is next-gen, and it has the biggest battery and fastest charging on any flip phone. The software is only going to get better, as Oppo promises four years of Color OS updates with an additional year of security updates. We think that Oppo has set the bar high with the N2 Flip, and we look forward to seeing what they’ll come up with next.
In conclusion, the Oppo N2 Flip is a game-changer in the world of flip phones. Its bigger, brighter, and taller cover screen, along with the next-gen hinge, decreased crease, and biggest battery, make it stand out from the competition. The flipping form factor gives you the flexibility to take pictures and videos from unique angles, and the phone’s solid camera setup delivers great results. We believe that Oppo has done an excellent job with the N2 Flip, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next.
As an iPhone user I would love to see Apple making a flip phone instead of making the same phone year after year after year this oppo looks so cool.
If they can sell those phones around 800-850€ with support or guarantee, i think a lot of people will buy those flip.
This is way better than Samsung’s approach. Tested one in a shop in Spain and it feels sturdy and well put together, The Samsung Flip feels like a toy next to this. And the purple one looks really nice when the sun strikes it, like it’s metallic paint, probably it is but I’m not sure, it behaves like it, getting all sparky, not something exaggerated, just a tiny glimmer.
