Hacienda Uayamón, Luxury and History on the outskirts of Campeche

When visiting for the first time Campeche and when looking for a place to stay, I was able to experience a part of Mexican history in one of the most famous haciendas in the Yucatan Peninsula, Hacienda Uayamón, once a reference in the era of green gold. Today, a luxury boutique hotel.

History of Hacienda Uayamón

The ex Hacienda Uayamon or also written as Huayamón, according to historians dates from the sixteenth century. From its beginnings it was a cattle ranch and also at the time, it was one of the properties to be benefited during the greatness of the green gold rush in the region.

So much so, that in the 19th century it became one of the reference farms in Campeche. One of his best known and last heirs was the famous and distinguished, Rafael Carvajal Iturraldewhose data appear prominently in several areas of the former Huayamón hacienda.

Today, many of the areas of the hacienda are very well preserved, including: the main house, the walls of the chapel, the hospital, the school, the workers’ houses and other areas. These together make up what is currently the luxurious hotel Hacienda Uayamon.

Afterwards, enjoy an intercultural experience in its Spa, located where the “ray store” used to be, feeling calm and serenity, especially at the moment when the smell of the ix-canán flower, cinnamon and combined with the perfume of the rose of Castile.

Likewise, in its prestigious restaurant, in addition to traditional Mexican cuisine, you also have at your disposal in its appetizing menu: international food. Of course also, a variety of drinks to toast in this hacienda that is located in a tropical climate.
