We have carefully crafted a recipe that we believe will satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more. Our recipe is easy to follow and only requires a few ingredients that you most likely already have in your pantry.
The Ingredients You Will Need
To make this delicious recipe, you will need:
- One glass of water (approximately 200 ml)
- One teaspoon of salt (approximately 3 grams)
- One teaspoon of sugar (approximately 2 grams)
- 2.5 glasses of flour (approximately 300 grams)
- Enough vegetable oil to cover the dough in the pan
How to Make the Recipe
To start, you will need to bring one glass of water to a boil and let it simmer. While you are waiting for the water to boil, we recommend that you read our recipe until the end so that you don’t miss any important details.
Next, add one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of sugar to the boiling water. Mix the ingredients together until the sugar and salt have dissolved.
After mixing the sugar and salt, it’s time to add the flour. You will need 2.5 glasses of flour. Add the flour to the water mixture and mix everything together until you have a smooth dough.
Now that you have your dough, it’s time to divide it into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a ball. We recommend that you read our recipe to see how we do it.
After rolling the dough into balls, it’s time to expand each ball into a diameter of 15 cm. This is the perfect size for what we have in mind. Once you have expanded the dough, it’s time to heat up your stove on high heat and add enough vegetable oil to the pan to cover the dough.
Wait for the oil to heat up and then throw the dough into the hot oil. Cook the dough until it’s golden brown on both sides.
After cooking all of the dough, it’s time to serve and enjoy. We hope that you enjoy our recipe and that it satisfies your cravings. Hello from New Hampshire in the USA! It looks like fried dough. It’s a common snack you’d find at a fair or the beach in the summer here. We’d lather the top with melted better and sprinkle powdered sugar on top. It’s so good!
Hi from Bengaluru the home town of H H Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar Ji. This is a fried flat bread called Poori and is made with whole wheat flour. Two suggestions I’d like to make.
1. There is no need for boiling water to mix the dough you can mix it with water or milk at room temperature.
2. Add just 1TBS of yoghurt while mixing the dough and your bread will absorb less oil.
This is an Indian recipe differently called ‘puri’ in most places in lndia and ‘luchi’ in west bengal. As I am from W.B., here we do not use east to prepare the dough. Instead, we use simple water or milk ( room temperature) and any edible vegetable oil or butter or ghee ( the ratio being 1teaspoonful in every150 gramm of wheat flour ). The kneading must be thorough . The next procedures are almost the same except only we use a kadai or an utensil which has a deep bottom. This utensil helps to fry with less oil and make it light. Here the oil consumption is little if the excess oil would be strained with a strainer when the puri will be removed from the kadai.
Thanks so much for this recipe!! I love bread and was looking for a simple recipe that doesn’t use too many ingredients that would be light and airy and not too sweet due to my diabetes II.
The recipe cooks up to be like the Spanish dessert called “Sopaipillas.” I’ve made a recipe of sopaipillias before and the dough of these you have shown seems much easier to make. Just cut them in smaller sizes and I’m sure they will taste just as good if you put cinnamon-sugar on them right after you fry them.
I like your recipe because is very easy and you use a reasonable amount of ingredients. Thanks a lot.
We have something like this in Trinidad called bake. We use salt and baking soda as well. It’s great with curries and more!
I’m from Texas in the US, this recipe is kind of what we make bunellos & sopapillas from. I include baking powder & shortening to mine, it’s the same as making tortillas. Like ur recipe, I’ll try filling with veggies & meat, bet that would be great. thank you.
