In this article, we will discuss 8 amazing tricks with Vaseline that everyone should know. Vaseline, also known as petroleum jelly, is a versatile product that can be used for a variety of purposes. It’s inexpensive, readily available, and has many practical applications that you may not have considered before. Let’s dive in and explore these tricks in more detail.
Trick #1 – Shine your Leather Shoes
Do you have leather shoes that have lost their shine? No need to worry as Vaseline can help you out. Simply apply some Vaseline onto a cloth and rub it into your leather shoes. Rub everything in until there are no visible residues of Vaseline on it. You will notice that your shoes now have a really nice shine. Repeat the process if necessary, and your shoes will look as good as new.
Trick #2 – Clean your Cooker
Even a ceramic hob can be made to look new again with the help of Vaseline. If you have minor scratches on your cooker, you can actually fix them with Vaseline. Apply a small amount of Vaseline on a kitchen towel and start spreading it all over the cooker in a circular motion. Wipe off the excess Vaseline with another cloth, and you will notice that your cooker looks much better, and the scratches have disappeared.

Trick #3 – Use it as a Fire Starter
Vaseline is an excellent outdoor helper that you can also use indoors. All you need is some cotton wool, form a small ball and put it into the Vaseline, and dip it in. Light it, and you will notice that it burns for quite a long time. This way, you can start a fire outside or in your fireplace, just with some cotton wool and Vaseline.
Trick #4 – Care for your Car
Vaseline is an excellent helper for your car, especially in winter. If you have trouble opening your car door in the winter because the rubber sticks to the door, apply some Vaseline to the entire door rubber. Spread a small amount all over the rubber, and you will notice that water can no longer settle there, and the door can no longer freeze on the door rubber. This way, even if it has frozen properly, you can always get your door open again on your car.
Trick #5 – Stop Squeaky Doors
Do you have a squeaky door in your house or garage? It’s quite annoying, but it can also be fixed with a little Vaseline. Grab a Q-tip and put some Vaseline on it, coat it on the pin and put the door back in place. The next time you open and close it, it shouldn’t squeak anymore because the Vaseline ensures that everything is properly lubricated again.
Trick #6 – Keep Ants Away
If you have ants in your house, you can use Vaseline to keep them away. Clean the place where the ants get in, and then smear Vaseline exactly in front of this place so that the ants can no longer cross it. This way, you prevent ants from getting into your flat or house at all, and all thanks to a small amount of Vaseline.
Trick #7 – Lubricate Your Zips
If you have a zip that always sticks or gets stuck somewhere, you can use a very small amount of Vaseline to lubricate it. Take a Q-tip, put a little Vaseline on it, and then lubricate your zip with it. Smear some Vaseline on the fastener itself and on the individual teeth. After this, you can open and close the zip normally again.

Trick #8 – Remove Glue Residue
If you have stickers that you can’t remove the glue residue from, you can use Vaseline. Smear a little Vaseline onto the glue residue and wait for it to take effect. After a while, you can easily remove the glue residue because the Vaseline has made the glue come off. This trick can be useful for removing stickers from lids or glass bottles.
In conclusion, Vaseline is a product that is incredibly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes beyond just moisturizing dry skin. We hope that these 8 tricks with Vaseline have been helpful and that you’ll be able to put them to good use. Remember, Vaseline is a simple and affordable solution to many everyday problems. With these tricks, you’ll be able to save time, money, and hassle while making your life a little bit easier.
If you’re looking to incorporate Vaseline into your daily routine, it’s important to note that not all Vaseline products are created equal. Hello from UK, SF. I have a tip number nine for you. I am disabled and have had a shower fitted instead of a bath. I have a shower seat to facilitate washing. The seat is fixed to the wall, nicely padded and made of strong plastic and rubber. Except for the legs. In their infinite wisdom, the manufacture fitted METAL legs. I know from experience that, after about six months the legs begin to rust. Liberal application of Vaseline stops it!
Put Vaseline anywhere you don’t want ants, they were getting on my hummingbird feeder on the hanging wire so I put some on the wire and they won’t cross it.
